If you were blown away by the desserts, the cheese room (yes it there was so much it had an its own room!) will have you trembling
Not one, not two, but FOUR rooms of extravagance, the Mandarin Oriental Easter Buffet stretched across Mosaic, The Cake Shop, Lobby Lounge, Mandarin Grill and Mandarin Bar wowing guests at every turn with a luxurious abundance of food. Decadent desserts, a Kids’ Buffet, live music, fun children’s playground, high cuisine from around the globe and a knee trembling cheese section made all ages “ooh” and “aah”. In a glorious tribute to Easter, masterful pastryman, Chef Holger Deh, let loose with a sacchariferous display of chocolates, pastries, desserts and of course his famous macarons. An experiment with sweet and savoury brought about the new orange and carrot combo alongside passionfruit and calamansi macarons which delighted taste buds with a slight tang, creamy inside and brittle exterior. The Mandarin Grill and Mosaic chefs lavished guests with a culinary pulchritude difficult to be reckoned with. Capitalising on European spring produce, white asparagus and garlic leaf made star appearances, and a mind boggling plentitude of mains from around the world left diners speechless. Fish, salads and ice sculptures made virtuosic impressions on the buffet but the cheese display stole the show. A jaw dropping bravura of coagulated casein stretched from window to wall in the MO bar. An exhibit so spectacular that it justified its own room. Pungent blue, oozy reblochon and sharp hard parmesan were but some of the pleasures provoking hearts to skip a beat. Sad you missed this and are already noting next year’s Easter plan in your diary? No need to worry, with Mothers’ Day coming up, you have a second chance. On Sunday, May 13th, Mandarin Oriental will again open up a spread across four outlets honouring mums in KL with another prodigious offering with their Mother’s Day Mega Brunch boasting 188 dishes laid out over an 88 metre long buffet! Indulge in this feast for RM 228++ per person. For dining reservations, call +60 (3) 2380 8888 or email mokul-fb@mohg.com.
