New Year Goals, What The Yum List is Looking for in 2016

New year, new goals: here are some of the things we’ll be looking for in 2016:

Monica C. is continuing to look for restaurants and businesses that take a progressive social and/or environmental approach to operations. She hopes to find places that tweak the old paradigm of buyer and seller, and instead engage and integrate the consumer and local community in a creative way. She’s also down for just good ole’ atmosphere and quality food.

Shaun wants to keep sharing the great local stories behind the amazing food created in Malaysia… and have a laugh along the way.

Monica L wants to push her boundaries and try things that she would not usually go for. The more exotic, or off-the-beaten path, the better. She will happily welcome surprises from unassuming places in 2016.

As a newbie, Hannah is looking to explore hidden gems offering memorable experiences she can share with visiting family and friends. Also being a new mum, she’d like to find some baby friendly places where she can enjoy a good cup of coffee and a healthy meal.

Naomi will be looking for cozy cafes to enjoy a cup of coffee, and sweet cakes to hit the spot on a lazy morning!

Huong is looking for modern fusion restaurants that make the most of seasonal produce. She’s hoping to find date-night worthy spots that have a good selection of appetisers, mains and desserts.

Kirsten intends to find more – more fascinating characters, more imagination and creativity, more new and fresh flavours, more twists on old favourites, more fabulous places to visit with friends, more good times.  Here’s to a Yummy 2016!

In the coming year, Kristin is looking forward to exploring the cafe scene in KL in even more detail and fill in some fine dining gaps in her resume. she also looks forward to her move to Japan next summer where she hopes to expand her palate to include sushi, a taste she has yet to acquire.

Adventure has been a consistent theme in Patricia‘s life and she hopes that 2016 brings this sense of adventure to the Yum List: New culinary experiences, thrilling redesigns of old themes, and a barrage of fresh and new cuisine to beat out the mundane. Happy New Year to all!

Always in support of those independents who has braved into F&B out of sheer passion, Eugenie can’t wait to explore the back story, what makes a place tick, and how they are striving to make a difference. All with a big dollop of yum along the way of course! She will also attempt to shed light on more Chinese food to all The Yum List readers 🙂

Ross is seeking a real Cuban sandwich and a good food truck or two…

Sarah continues to be looking for unique eating experiences with fresh ingredients paired with interesting wines or beers. As someone who loves to cook with simplicity while still embracing full flavor in her food, she is hopeful to find restaurants that keep food simple, healthy, fresh, yet new and inspiring in the kitchen.

Han Sen will be looking for a cure to rid himself of his Asian flush, if it’s even remotely possible to defy his genetic make-up, and to photograph some of the snazziest and quirkiest cafés around town. (Bring on more wine we say.)

Having thoroughly enjoyed discovering some great healthy eateries  in 2015, Louise is hoping that 2016 brings more of these –  eateries that offer veggie and gluten free options and are fully committed to wholesome and nutritious deliciousness.

Caning is hoping to find new drinks, boutique spirits and beers to excite his taste buds. At the same time he looks forward to finding artistic restaurants with good attention to detail, and great customer service.

Monica continues to search for businesses that value ethical practices and see happiness and health of their staff, customers and community as just as an important indicator of success as the bottom dollar.
