Meat-free Meals Kuala Lumpur – Five More!

Meat-free Meals Kuala Lumpur

Ever give someone a list of favourites and then, later on, think, “but wait, there’s more!”? Such is the case with my recent collection of fave plant-based dishes in KL. After I hit “publish” another whole bunch of beloved dishes came to mind. So, here’s part two!

Meat-free Meals Kuala Lumpur – Five More!

Tortellini – Small Shifting Space

The Tortellini at Small Shifting Space is a beautiful bowl of mushroom-packed pasta parcels sprinkled with greens and edible flowers. There’s shroom jam, and a fantastic consommé of mushroom, soy sauce and root vegetables. A bright orange egg yolk sits in the middle, just begging to be burst. The broth is so good I want to pick up the bowl and slurp it from the rim. I consider taking it away solely for the purpose of sucking it up loudly at home without shame.

Heirloom Tomatoes – ADU Sugar

Heirloom Tomato and Red Palm Oil Caprese at ADU Sugar utilizes local produce in a European recipe. Elaiese red palm oil, along with black truffle and mushroom essence, create a highly satisfying dressing. It’s prettily adorned with basil and edible blooms, and another order I’d highly recommend.

Meat-free Meals Kuala Lumpur – Tempe Salad – Jama KL

The Tempe Salad at Jama KL is an incredibly fragrant, plant-heavy favourite. Made with local ulam salad leaves, cauliflower rice, and homemade tempe, it’s topped with perfectly crispy anchovies (ask for none for a meat-free dish) and homemade sambal that we couldn’t get enough of.

Charred Cauliflower – Fuego

Charred Cauliflower from Fuego is something I love so much I try to replicate it at home (usually unsuccessfully). The veggie sports a dark char from the grill and is seasoned with parsley salsa, Parmesan and almond crumble, cumin, lemon zest and toasted pistachios. It’s a fantastic plant-based option, but even carnivore hubby thinks it delish.

Mango Sushi – Sushi & Spice

Sushi & Spice’s Mango Tango Sushi (RM 20) is a hit with all of our team. Japanese short-grain rice rolls around cucumber, carrot, purple cabbage, crushed seaweed and vegan mayo. The topping of luscious slices of sweet juicy mango though is the highlight.
