I love wining and dining on my holidays, but that also means I’m always looking for some vigorous activity to keep the calories under control. Grand Hyatt Bali ensured I kept my tummy trim these past holidays with their exceptional range of activities and facilities, and proved themselves a worthy resort for people who like to have options.
To kick my exercise regime off, The Bay Club Fitness and Health Centre, provided an extensively well-equipped gymnasium with awesome cardiovascular machines, both free and machine weights, an aerobics studio, steam and dry saunas, a whirlpool, a plunge pool and a massage room. Outside the gym, there were even bikes for rent – perfect for exploring more of the coastline and swish Nusa Dua gated community.

The hotel also features five large pools (there’s something for even the fussiest of guests), two glass- back squash courts, beach volleyball, and soccer areas. But if you are the kind that loves thinking and less movement, a giant chess set is a fun challenge.

If you are an outdoor enthusiast, the sky is the limit! The resort has a jogging trail and a lovely green golf patch for practising chipping and putting. However, if eager for a full round, the Bali Golf & Country club is just 5 minutes away via a free hotel transfer.

Three floodlit tennis courts add to the facilities and an in-house tennis coach can be booked to better your game. I love playing tennis so couldn’t resist the lure of having a match with the coach. It was an exciting and very close game, with the instructor narrowly taking the lead. What a fun and memorable way to spend a morning.

For those who can’t wait to jump into the water, there is an incredible range of water sports on offer. Snorkelling, windsurfing, paddle canoes, catamarans and boogie boards can all be found at the water sports centre. The friendly crew are happy to give you some pointers for use or even sign you up for lessons if you prefer. The hotel also works in conjunction with local service providers to bring guests what seems an endless list of adventurous possibilities. Scuba diving, water skiing, parasailing, fishing, deep sea fishing, and outrigger sailing are just some of the things that can be arranged.

I partook in a thrilling boat ride from Nusa Dua to the choppy waters of Nusa Penida, where I dove around the reef of Lembongan Island. An abundance of unique coral and fauna made this a mind-blowing experience and was worthy of the hairy ride over the rough sea to get there.

In a nutshell, if you are a health conscious person and sports devotee looking for a comprehensive offering of recreational activities, don’t hesitate to book some time at the Grand Hyatt Bali, where the options seem infinite.
